Let’s collectively spark the minds of the next generation of critical, creative and inspired readers!
As many of you know, I’m not big on birthdays so I thought I’d give it to some children who need it so much more than I do!
With updated hygiene protocols in place, we’ve been thrilled to be able to keep our libraries open, especially during the 8 months (so far) of school closures due to Covid. The students have been able to come and check out books to take home and this has given them a way to stay engaged with school. For the vast majority of our students in rural areas, online access to classes is not an option for myriad reasons and we have tried to increase the availability of reading materials to these often overlooked children.
I have always loved books. Reading has been an important component of my life from a very young age. I have been fortunate enough to have endless access to reading materials throughout my (almost) 50 years, but that isn't the case for most young students in Cambodia.
Not only do books bolster reading skills, but they foster creative and critical thinking and take you to places you have never imagined.
